George Eastman House Day Trip to Rochester

The WYC cruise organized a day trip to Rochester.

10 people two vans for a 15 minute taxi ride into downtown Rochester.

Rochester is head quarters for Eastman Kodak.  Much of the downtown and outskirts are Kodak offices, factories, and warehouses.  George Eastman started the company over a century ago.

We did a tour of the George Eastman Estate and Museum.  The house was very nice and bright.

On the back of the house was museum showcasing all the innovations that Kodak had done in their history.  From the early Brownie cameras, to the Instamatic camera, 110 film cartridges, to the start of today's digital cameras from Nikon, Canon, and SONY.  Very interesting.  They had examples of many of the film and digital cameras over the years.  I had owned several over them: Canon FTb & AE1, Nikon 2000, Sony Mavia, and Casio QV-100.

It is sad that Eastman Kodak filed for bankruptcy protection a couple of years ago.

One of neat things was a portrait of George Eastman himself:

 Made up of individual photos:

WOW

Many iconic photos were on display.

We took a photo of our ladies in the gardens:

They took a photo of us guys looking for "Men's Services":

We all had a nice lunch:

Back to the boat by taxis, we had another great BBQ and watched "Captain Ron" projected on a sail:

Captain Ron is funny sailing movie!

The next morning I went to photograph Still Time III:

This race rocket is a FARR/MUMM 30 that is for sale for $90k!
Drysailed, and stored indoors during the winter; immaculate!

I did notice walking the docks, that Rochester basin has fleet of about twenty J/80 boats, and counted probably close to six J/70s.

This J/80 caught Rita's Hollish Eyes:

The orange sail cover was a nice Dutch Touch.
