C22 Whitby Race Night

Full boat with Melisa, John, Chris, and I.  Winds were forecast for 10-13 knots from the east, went out with full racing main and #1.  Winds were actually less out there, fluctuating between 6 and 10 knots.  The boat was really moving and comfortable.  Course was 7 medium.

We had a great start at the pin end of the start line on starboard tack in clean air.  We beat the two red sharks to the windward mark.  The T-bird and Shark Foxtrot were ahead of all of us.

Alas the Sharks passed us on the downwind legs as they always do, but we did finished within 32 seconds of catching them in corrected time.

Melissa did a great helming job.  She is starting to get a feel for it.

Looking at the GPS track on the second upwind leg, there was a wind shift that we didn't detect, resulting in us sailing further than we had too.

We should have tacked early on the second upwind leg.
