C22 Series 1 Race 3

Melissa, Chris, and I with winds 6-12 from the east; racing main and #2 genoa; course was 7 medium.

At the start coming up to the start line on starboard tack, we had to waste some time, so we decided to do a 360.  Melissa gybed, and we ended up putting the boat in irons and were late to the start line. Lesson learn, tack when doing a 360 before the start.

At the windward mark, we were way behind the Fly Buoy, Foxtrot, and Cheekey Monkey, but just slightly ahead of Mickey.  We gained some ground on the leaders, but were too far behind.

We were 4th across the line and think we may have caught Foxtrot on corrected time, but missed them by TWO SECONDS.  During the race we commented that we didn't let the motor up all the way and on a port tack it was dragging slightly in the water.  That was the difference.

Looking at our track, I was pleased how we sailed the boat.

We are currently fouth out six boats overall.
