It was sunny and warm (about 20 degrees Celcius) with the winds light 4-6 knots from the south west. No waves because the winds were from the north all night and swung around in the late morning.
Melissa on the helm, we quickly hoisted the main, and cracked off the wind to unfurl the genoa.
Got the boat going a couple of knots in 4 knots of breeze.
We dropped anchor out at mark 1 (about a mile off shore) to "herd the cats" down to Commodore Berry's Mad Hatter who was anchored by shore off the clubhouse. We left the mainsail up.
After all of the boats in the fleet (55 total) had made their way, we hoisted the new asymmetrical spinnaker and sailed down past the commodore at 4 knots of boat speed in 4 knots of breeze (wind on the beam)
This shows how the tack of the sail is attached around the furled foresail |
AWESOME |
Picture through the hatch as we were taking it down |
Melissa on the helm took the spin halyard, while I blew the tack and fed the sheet down to Rita down below. Pretty easy douse.

And into the harbour with Wenzel's German genoa behind us.
Great day on the water!
