CS34 Labour Day with Melissa and James

Melissa and James came to the boat in the afternoon.  Perfect weather: sunny and 28 degrees.

After some refreshments, Melissa and James went out on the stand up paddle boards.  I borrowed a SUP from dock neighbour Amanda, and we toured around Whitby Harbour, including going up Pringle creek until the water was less than a foot deep.  We didn't have our phones with us for picture for fear of dunking them.

The four of us went out for a sail.  Only about 4 knots of breeze from the SSW, but we were able to get the boat moving between 3 and 4 knots towards Pickering.  The auto pilot did all the work, sailing us at 42 degrees from the wind.

We went as far as Ajax, but had to tack back as the kids were going for dinner at James' parents.

Man it was hot, so I decided to "heave to" (stop the boat with the sails up), and Melissa and I went for a refreshing swim in the water.  You can see on the track where we stopped for a swim.

The water temperature was 24.5 degree Celcius (76 Fahrenheit).

Coming back in, we passed another dock mate Mario on his Catalina 26 coming back from Toronto:

We blew by them actually.

What a great afternoon on the water!
