CS34 Waste Fitting

Lost the waste cap overboard last fall during the final pump out. Do you think I can find a replacement? Nooooo!

HMP says they are on most CS boats and that they aren't made anymore (unavailable).

Like the convenience of using a winch handle instead of another key to lose.

Picked up a replacement fitting from the Rigging Shoppe ($60).

Little bit shorter:

Little bit smaller in diameter:

However, the screw holes line up:

After disconnecting the waste hose below, I was able to pry it out with the handle for the manual bilge pump.

Note that the deck here is balsa cored!
The balsa core is completely exposed here.
Any leaks in this fitting would have permiated into the deck here.
Shame on you CS yachts!
Luckily it hasn't.

Man I gotta clean up the wiring here!

As a quick fix, I used several layers butyl tape around the fitting and screwed it down to the deck.

This is a quick fix as I didn't want to be digging out the core and epoxying in 32 degrees C heat.

In the fall (when sailing season is over) I will take this fitting out, dig out the core and drill out the screw holes, fill will thickened epoxy to properly bed it.
