CS34 2021 Cruise East Day 04 Sandy Cove to Pinyer's Cove

Up before 7am, dog to land:

Time on photo is 7:01am

Grrrr

Still Time
The Beckoning

...and back to the boat

Our Shadow loves going in the dingy!

...and the paddle board!

After being at anchor for two nights, our battery monitor showed that we were at 80% state of charge with 13.1 volts.  This with two AGM 110ah batteries in parallel.  Starting the motor, the alternator kicked in and was throwing 60+ amps back into the batteries.

Once we got the hook up and were underway @2,500 RPM, the alternator was putting 96 amps into the house.  I would say that our battery and charging system is working well.  The batteries were fully charged by the time we got to Deseronto 2 hours (12 miles) away.

Deseronto Bridge

Oh no, looks like The Beckoning is not going to fit under the bridge!

When we turned the corner at Forester Island, winds were 8-12 knots pretty much on the nose.
We put the main up and motor sailed until we got the the bottom of Long Reach.

Off with the motor, sailing close hauled until the turn to Aldophus Reach.

Yellow is where we started sailing

Beam reach sail past the Glenora Ferry

Winds were 12-15 knots almost dead down wind, so no spinnaker, poled out the 120% genoa all the way to Prinyer's Cove.

Had to gybe a couple of times to get there:

Set the autopilot to sail to a wind angle of 160 degrees apparent to prevent an accidental gybe.

Walter and Colleen enjoyed the downwind sail too:

We called ahead to ex Whitby folks Jim and Shelly who own Prinyer's Cover marina and reserved a couple of mooring balls.

Dropped the pole at the triangle
Dropped the main at the circle

Catching a mooring ball is just so easy and the cost was $30 for the night.

We got lots of use out of our inflatable paddle boards!

After dinner, we went to Jim and Shelly's place for a drink.
Was nice hooking up with them.
