My golfing buddy Neil and I have been volunteering at the Canadian Open as marshals since 2008.
It is a big commitment to spent 8+ hours a day on the course marshalling for 5 days (Wed-Sun).
Me commuting in from Bowmanville and Neil from Welland everyday to the Greater Toronto Area just is not possible.
So, I arranged for a slip at the Mimico Cruising Club to the Still Time as a boatel for our time at the RBC Canadian Open. The Open is at St Georges Golf Club in Etobicoke (8km from the boat).
We have done this every year that we could:
- 2008/2009/2012/2013/2014/2015/2016/2017/2018 Glen Abbey (Oakville Club)
- 2010/2022 St Georges (Mimico Cruising Club)
- 2012/2019 Hamilton (Royal Hamilton)
Decided to leave early Wed morning to make my afternoon shift at the golf course.
Woke up before my alarm and left the dock at 4:26am
Just past Scarborough, the wind swung to the west on the nose, and dropped to about 5 knots. Had to get there, so on with the motor and down with the sails.
Approaching Toronto:
Went inside the harbour:
That was easy!

Neil drove in shortly after I arrived and got checked in, and it was off to the course!
Wednesday was the PRO AM, so very low key, not a lot of spectators.
What a great day!
