With Chris on the helm and the boys on the sheets, we went out will full main and #1 genoa.
Winds were forecast for 6-8 knots from the east. The anemometer showed 9 knots at the dock.
Course was 6 short, and we did a bunch of practice tacks and sail trims to get the guys familiar with the boat.
We timed the start badly and were late to the line. The waves were such that it was very slow on port tack beating to the first mark. We watched the fleet in front of us miss the windward mark all over the place, so we over stood the last tack AND WE STILL MISSED THE MARK. The winds had died down and the leftover waves were pushing us away from the mark. Talking the Terry on Shark Psych 101 in the bar, he miss that mark TWICE!
Our competition was about a quarter mile in front of us, and on the next two legs we closed the gap and managed to crawl our way past Firebird, but Knotty Girl finished in front of us, and don't think we would have caught them on corrected time.
Great night on the water!
