Left to Right Off Duty Still Time Cajun Marietta |
We were hoping the water was clearer to take a look if there was still line on the prop. We hoisted anchor and went out further in the bay, the water was still murky. I'm just not comfortable going below the boat with limited visibility. With the motor in gear past an idle, we could hear line slapping against the bottom of the hull.
Rod from Silhouette offerred to dive with mask/snorkel/flippers, so we rafted up with them. It took Rod three dives to pull and cut 15 ft of rope from around the prop and prop shaft:
We were good to go!
Just past the Belleville bridge, we saw a familiar boat going in the opposite direction:
Idylours is Catalina 30 from Newcastle that used to be owned by friends Yvon and Elaine, who traded her in for a land yacht (5th wheel trailer), and are currently in western Canada now and heading south to Arizona.
We had originally planned to visit a friend in Trenton, and head on to meet the rest of the fleet on the wall of the west side of the Murray Canal. However, since we didn't leave the cove until after noon, we arrived in Trenton around 3:30pm. The Murray Canal also closes at 5pm. We decided to take a slip for the night at Fraiser Park Marina and meet up with the fleet the next day onto Cobourg.
Awesome slip; $50 for the night. Also fueled up.
VERY friendly and helpful staff.
The night's going to be a good night.
