Shoved off, glad to get away from that dump.
We purposely went east to pass the Waupoos winery that we visited last night. The chart plotter showed lots of shallow spots on the way, so I stayed in 10ft of water motoring slowly. I wanted to see if we could dock our sailboat there for a wine tour and/or dinner in the future.
We got within 8ft of the dock before we ran aground. It was a sand bottom, so it was very easy to back out. From the image below, you can see where we tried to get to the dock at the winery.

AIS showed a 72ft "Dangerous Target" tug called ECOEEN. It was towing behind it some kind of drilling rig. I furled in the jib and started to motor to make sure we cleared them. I called them on the DSC radio to let them know that I was passing in front of them. The captain replied in broken English with a "Thanks", and that he was about to alter course to port after we passed him.
Leeward of Amherst Island, we had winds of 12 knots with gusts in the 20s, so I furled out some of the jib, and we sailed merrily along.
Getting towards the Kingston basin, the CORK regatta was in full force with thousands of lasers, 420s, Optis, and 29ers all over the place. We furled in the jib for visibility and motored the rest of the way to Kingston Confederation Basin municipal marina.
It was blowing 25+ knots and we easily pulled into our slip beside Marietta from Newcastle. The dock staff were very helpful. Also there were Silhouette, Cajun, and Off Duty from Newcastle. First Draft and Stealing Summer came in later and stay on the same dock.
