After a shower and a morning walk around town, we decide to explore Sodus Bay in the dinghy.
The waterfront houses were amazing as we toured around the outside of the bay.
About 3 miles from the boat, we were rounding an island, and the motor hit a rock and tilted up. The shear pit had sheared off and there was a ding in the propeller; NO MORE PROPULSION!
We radioed the dockmaster and had them send John out from Once Around on his dinghy.
We were rescued in about 15 minutes. Good thing I brought the handheld VHF!
To top it off, John brought me a beer.
I could have replaced the shear pin on the water, but I didn't the tools to remove the cotter pin on the prop. It took about 3 minutes to replace the shear pin once back at the dock.
